Description

Bring a piece of extraordinary American history into your home with this fascinating fine art print featuring the famous Living Photograph The Human U.S. Shield. Created around 1918 by Arthur Mole and his assistant John Thomas at Camp Custer, Michigan, this monumental work captures the collective strength of 30,000 officers and men. Mole and Thomas were pioneers in anamorphic photography, specializing in arranging thousands of individuals in precise formations to create massive patriotic symbols from a bird's-eye view. This photograph was originally commissioned by the US military to boost morale during World War I. The sheer scale and logistical feat required to create this image are breathtaking, symbolizing unity and determination. This piece is much more than just a historical photograph; it's a powerful statement about teamwork, dedication, and national pride. The complex details and the symbolism of the U.S. Shield make it a captivating conversation starter for any room. The original was taken circa 1918 and features the incredible formation of 30,000 soldiers at Camp Custer. This vintage-style print is an excellent fit for a home office, study, or living room with classic decor. The black and white aesthetic allows it to integrate seamlessly into monochromatic color schemes or industrial design spaces, evoking a sense of reverence and historical depth. It makes an ideal gift for history buffs, military veterans, or collectors of unique photography for occasions like birthdays or Veterans Day. Make a striking visual statement and celebrate the power and unity embodied in The Human U.S. Shield.

Are framed posters available?
Yes! Alongside unframed posters, selected designs are also available framed. The poster is already mounted inside the frame – no assembly or fitting required, just unbox and hang.
Are the frames ready to hang?
Yes, absolutely. All frames arrive fully assembled, including hanging hardware. Just unbox and hang it up – no tools and no assembly required.
How much is shipping?
Shipping is a flat 4.95 € per order and free on orders from 50 €. This applies to every country we ship to. Digital downloads never have shipping costs. Since your order is usually produced and shipped by a print partner in your region, you typically won't run into extra customs charges.
Where do you ship to?
We currently ship to 38 countries: all 27 EU member states plus Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Norway and the United Kingdom, as well as the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Singapore and Brazil. How long does shipping take?
Every poster is printed after you order. Production takes 1–3 business days, followed by 3–7 business days of shipping depending on the destination country. In total, your order usually arrives within 4–10 business days. Framed posters take a little longer to produce. As soon as your parcel is on its way, you will receive an email with the tracking number and a tracking link.
Who produces my order?
Your order isn't made in one central warehouse – it's produced through a network of print-on-demand partners specialized in high-quality poster and frame printing. Depending on where you live, the printer closest to you handles production and shipping, which saves time and avoids unnecessary transport distances. That way you get the same quality in every country we ship to, without long wait times.
