Ukiyo-e Posters & Japanese Woodblock Prints

Pictures of the floating world

Ukiyo-e means "pictures of the floating world" – the name for the colourful woodblock prints of the Edo period that made artists like Hokusai famous. They are known for bold outlines, flat colour and a fine sense for nature. Here you'll find classic motifs like Mount Fuji with cherry blossoms, geishas and samurai and poppies in deep indigo, as well as playful reinterpretations such as frogs in a bath tub or an octopus kaiju.

Where ukiyo-e prints shine

In the living room, a large woodblock print adds a calm, graphic accent. The humorous animal motifs suit the bathroom or kitchen. Paired with light wood and natural fabrics, they create a harmonious Japandi look.
