Which frame fits your poster?

Choose the frame by its inner size, not its outer size: it should match the poster size. For a mat, choose a larger frame, as shown in the right-hand column.

Not every size is a standard size everywhere, so check the inner size in the listing before you order. Landscape posters (45 × 30, 60 × 40 and 90 × 60 cm) fit the same frames as their portrait versions, turned on their side.

Hanging and finishing

Poster hangers

Poster hangers

Two wooden or magnetic strips hold the poster at the top and bottom, so you need no frame. Choose a strip at least as wide as your poster.

Adhesive strips

Adhesive strips

Removable strips hold light frames without a drill. Check the load limit on the pack and whether they suit your wall: textured wallpaper and fresh paint are often a poor base.

Hangers without drilling

Hangers without drilling

Adhesive hooks and hangers are a good choice for rented flats and tiled walls. For larger frames, use several and stay below the stated load limit.

Picture rails

Picture rails

You mount a rail once and can then move, swap and add frames without new holes. Useful if you like to change your wall often.

Spirit level

Spirit level

A small spirit level is enough to get frames and rails straight, especially when several pictures hang side by side.

Before you hang it

  • If your poster arrived rolled, let it rest flat under some weight for a while before framing it.
  • Hold the paper by its edges and wipe the frame glass or acrylic clean before you insert the poster.
  • Measure the wall first and mark the position lightly with a pencil.
